Updated: Insurance cover changes by Bristol City Council.

Dear Friends of Brislington Brook volunteers.

We are very sorry to inform you but with immediate effect all future volunteer work parties are cancelled. We have just been informed by Bristol City Council that they no longer insure any volunteers, which directly effects us and all other volunteer groups across Bristol. We are hoping this situation will be resolved very soon.

Jules (FoBB Chair)

UPDATE 10/10/17 From Bristol City Council to confirm the insurance arrangements that covers the activity of volunteers has not changed and remains very much in force.

“We apologise for the confusion caused by Friday’s miscommunication of the situation. I hope you can understand that this email was sent in good faith as a precautionary measure following a misunderstanding of the nuances of the insurance policy. The Council’s Principal Insurance Officer has confirmed there is no change to policy. Volunteers can continue to operate as they have done in line with the guidance provided by the Parks Team… Thank you all again for your patience in this matter and your continuing valued support of our parks and green spaces.”

What a pity that the message was sent which has caused such massive confusion.

Hello. About a year ago someone contacted me via Facebook enquiring about my dad’s handmade bug hotels, squirrel feeders and nest boxes. He has some to donate. I have not heard from the chap since though. Is there somewhere I could bring them to, or someone who would like to come and collect them feom me in Knowle?

Hello Nikki, that was me. I’d be happy to come and collect them. Thank you! Please let me know when would be convenient.
